Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What will moisturize my skin better, the lotion or the oil?

A: The three pillars of Moisture are Humectants, Emollients, and Occlusives. Lotions contain mostly Humectant ingredients (Water, Glycerin, Aloe Vera, and Sugars) and are great for moisturizing, but require frequent reapplication. Humectants tend to evaporate if they aren’t accompanied by an Emollient (Jojoba Oil, Coconut Oil, Grapeseed Oil, etc…). When used together, they offer a fully moisturized experience. This is why we suggest showering and/or applying lotion before smoothing on a body oil. Massaging the oil into your skin after contact with water will seal in the moisture, and adds to the overall unique bonus of every oil we have used. Occlusives (Petrolatum, lanolin, and beeswax) create a barrier on the skin to prevent moisture loss. Our powerful blend of oils act as Emollients, and mild Occlusives, delivering properties that will improve your skin from regular use.

Q: Why have you chosen Jojoba oil as the main oil in your product?

A: We chose this golden, magical oil because of the plethora of benefits it has, particularly for topical use. We have naturally occurring wax esters on our skin, and jojoba oil closely resembles these esters. Because of this resemblance, it is optimal for skin health and barrier function. Due to its high lipid content, it decreases water loss, balances our natural oils, and encourages cell turnover. Like many essential oils, it is anti-inflammatory and treats skin problems like eczema, dermatitis, acne, and wounds. As a protective and non-greasy oil, it can provide mild collagen support, and improve the signs of aging.

Q: How do I use body oil?

A: It’s easy! After a shower or shave apply to damp skin to lock in moisture. A few drops go a long way. The oil can be used alone, or for ultimate moisture apply after lotion. Some people like to apply the oil while standing in their shower or tub to avoid spillage, then pat their skin dry with a towel.

Q: What skin types is your body oil suitable for?

A: Our body oil is gentle and nourishing for all skin types, including sensitive and dry skin.

Q: Can I use body oil on my face?

A: While our body oil is designed for the body, many of our customers enjoy its gentle ingredients on their face. Always patch test first.

Q: Will it leave my skin greasy?

A: No—jojoba oil absorbs quickly and mimics your skin’s natural oils, leaving a soft, non-greasy finish.
